The Marketing Process: How we do it. (Back to Introduction)
Stage 5 - Submitting to the Search Engines (Finally!)
Your site is now search engine friendly and geared around terms that will attract plenty of visitors who are interested in what you have got to offer.
This stage is not really about getting your site to rank well in the search engines, as the scientific process we have been through in the first 4 stages will ensure that this occurs automatically. The hurdle we need to cross here is actually getting the site included in the search engine databases.
Whilst there are 1000s of search engines out there, there are only around 10 resources that will actually generate any traffic. Other than a cursory nod to these other engines, we invest all our effort into the well-known names (and the less well-known suppliers of search data to these well-known names).
Directories (e.g. Yahoo!) require special attention because a badly planned and/or executed submission can result in poor rankings and therefore traffic. At this stage we will go back to our priority keywords and carry out a directory-by-directory analysis of each keyword before submitting to the three primary directories.
We understand the inter-relationships between all the main search engines. This allows us to make effective submissions without duplication of effort (or cost!). With this information we are able to make recommendations on which of the fees demanded by many of the search engines are worth paying for.
