Search Engine Optimisation Tips (Back to Introduction)
Tip 1. Provide interesting in-depth information on your site
Search engine users are looking for information on the topic that they have typed into a search box. It therefore follows that the search engine's aim will be to return results that are about that topic.
The above might seem like a very obvious statement but it is a fact that is missed by anybody who concentrates their efforts in making tiny changes to the text of their pages or employing "dirty tricks" to fool the search engines. At the end of the day the search engines will keep finding ways of preventing the tricks from working and your ranks will disappear (until you find the next trick to get around the system).
If, on the other hand, you concentrate your efforts on writing informative articles related to the subject of your site, you will find the following: your ranks will be just as good, you will be found on a greater diversity of terms (which means more traffic), your ranks will be unlikely to disappear overnight and better still, when a visitor arrives on your site, they will be much more likely to buy.
